There are four primary roles that provide most users with access to different functionality within the Capella platform.
Archive Viewer
This is the default role automatically assigned to all users. A user with the Archive Viewer role can browse the entire Capella public imagery archive, preview imagery on the map, and explore imagery metadata. However, users exclusively assigned to this role cannot incur new charges for archive imagery orders, nor can they task new imagery. All free or pre-purchased data (imagery in the capella-open-data collection, imagery shared with the user’s organization via license or contract, and imagery already owned by the user’s organization) remains available for download via the standard ordering process.
Archive Buyer
Users with the Archive Buyer role have the additional ability to purchase new archive imagery by charging non-$0 orders to their organization’s contract(s) via the standard ordering process.
Tasker
Users with the Tasker role have the additional ability to task new imagery and charge new tasking requests to their organization’s contract(s) via the standard tasking workflows.
Organization Manager
An Organization Manager is a role within the Capella platform that gives certain administrative permissions to an individual or multiple individuals managing user accounts and other information for their organization. An organization manager is able to:
- Add new user accounts to their organization
- View user account information for users within their organization
- Modify roles for user accounts within their organization
- Disable user accounts within their organization
- View data product orders placed by users within their organization
- View tasking requests placed by users within their organization
- View contract details for their organization
