Each individual data product will include a cloud optimized GeoTIFF file for the processed payload data and a sidecar json file including the extended metadata information. The product metadata is also included in the GeoTIFF header in TIFFTAG_IMAGEDESCRIPTION.
SLC data products are GeoTIFF files using 32 bits for each sample. The first 16 bits represent the real component of the complex value as a signed 16 bit integer (Int16) and the last 16 bits represent the imaginary component of the complex value as a signed 16 bit integer (Int16). This data type is also known as CInt16.
GEO data products are GeoTIFF files using 16 bits for each sample. The GEO products are obtained after multilooking and projecting the SLC products onto a DEM georeferenced to the WGS84 UTM regular grid. This data type is also known as UInt16.
Geocoded Ellipsoid Corrected (GEC)
GEC is an image product type which supplements the SLC and GEO types. GEC is a detected multi-looked image which has been geocoded and projected onto WGS84 ellipsoid using average scene center height. The image is provided in North-Up orientation with standard UTM & UPS coordinate systems without terrain correction applied.
GEC images are ideally suited for:
- Analyzing imagery over areas with significant topographic relief without any DEM correction applied. – Since height information is not used from a DEM the geolocation accuracy varies depending on relief of the local typography
- Relatively flat terrain – excellent geolocation accuracy is still achieved making GEC images ideally suited for visual literal image interpretation and multi-temporal analysis
Sensor Independent Complex Data (SICD)
SICD is a new product delivery format for SAR imagery products acquired in Spot (spotlight) and Strip (stripmap) modes. This delivery format is for single look complex (SLC) image product type data in addition to Capella's TIFF+JSON format.
SICD is a U.S. national geospatial-intelligence (GEOINT) standard designed for the storage and dissemination of SAR single look complex (SLC) image data in a sensor-independent manner. This standard leverages well-established National Imagery Transmission Format (NITF) container format with customized raster segments and metadata tags specifically designed for the storage of SAR complex image products.
Capella's SICD format complex image products are compliant with version 1.2.1 of the SICD standard published on 13 Dec 2018 (NGA.STND.0024-1_1.2.1). SICD formatted imagery products are delivered as a single NITF format file (*.ntf) which contains both the single look complex image data and relevant SAR metadata.
