Parallel Stripmap Release Notes - 10 December 2025

Parallel Stripmap Collection Mode Now Available for Tasking

What’s New

Broader coverage, fewer scenes, faster insights, without sacrificing spatial detail or latency.

Parallel Stripmap is a new collection mode that doubles AOI capture width by producing parallel image strips in a single pass, delivering greater overall swath and area coverage without sacrificing resolution.

Collection Type Description

Get double the coverage of a standalone Stripmap tasked and imaged in a single pass while retaining high-resolution, downlink time, and tasking latency.

Top Stats

  • Scene Size: 20 x 20, 50, 100
  • Azimuth Resolution: 1.2m
  • Slant Range: 0.75m
  • Look Angle: 15°- 50°

Why This Matters to You:

Most high-resolution SAR modes are limited in widths or resolution, forcing customers to stitch multiple scenes to monitor large AOIs like ports, pipelines, coasts, or disaster zones, or rely on poor quality, high-swath collection types. Parallel Stripmap removes the trade off – covering more in one pass while maintaining 1m high-resolution quality.

Key Use Cases:

  • Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) Wide Corridor Scanning:
    • Coastline monitoring and vessel detection across wider straits
    • Monitor shipping lanes
    • Detecting anomalies across broad water surfaces
  • Border and Perimeter Monitoring:
    • Watching wide land borders
    • Detecting movement across buffer zones
    • Tracking newly built positions across longer linear distances
  • AOI scans before high-resolution follow up: A “triage” option for customers who need to optimize tasking cost or time
    • Use Parallel Stripmap to scan wide area quickly
    • Flag areas of interest
    • Task Spotlight/Sliding Spotlight on the hotspots

Other Details to Know

  • Greater Coverage per Task: Capture up to 20 x 20, 50, and 100 km AOIs at release, reducing task count and latency
  • Operational Efficiency: Collect multiple adjacent tasks in one orbit, cutting scheduling time and downlink volume
  • Consistent, high resolution: Maintain high resolution with a larger swath.1m Stripmap resolution quality and double the AOI.
