What are the tasking and collect statuses?

Capella Space provides full visibility into SAR tasking and data delivery through real-time status updates in the Capella Console and API. This article outlines each possible status—from initial request to final delivery—helping users confidently track new acquisitions and understand where their requests stand in the process.

Users can monitor the status of new acquisition tasking requests and data delivery in real-time using the Capella Console or Capella API.

Tasking statuses

Tasking Status

Description

Received

A tasking request is received from our system and the processing of cost estimation started. AOI tasking requires tessellation algorithms to estimate number of acquisitions required. At this stage, the tasking request is not submitted for scheduling.

Review

The user has the opportunity review the estimated cost for the tasking request. At this stage, the tasking request is not submitted for scheduling.

Submitted

The tasking request has been cost-approved and submitted to the constellation tasking system processing queue for scheduling.

Active

The tasking request is in the processing queue and acquisition is being attempted. Tasking requests enter the Active state when the window close expiration date extends beyond the one-week-out scheduling horizon and the entire new acquisition cannot yet be fully scheduled. Active tasking requests will repeatedly have collection attempts scheduled until the one-week-out scheduling horizon is reached at which point a definitive Accepted or Rejected/Expired status will be assigned.

Accepted

The tasking request has been accepted by the constellation tasking system and is scheduled for full acquisition (barring any anomalies occur).

Rejected

The tasking system is unable to schedule the tasking request due to combination of imaging parameters and acquisition window duration.

The tasking request is rejected because there is no capacity available in the acquisition window.

The tasking request can also be rejected because the new tasking request conflicts with one or more of the organization’s currently accepted tasks.

Expired

The constellation tasking system has determined that it will not be able to fully collect the new acquisition by the window close expiration date.

Completed

The tasking request has been completed and all required collects have been acquired.

Canceled

The tasking request has been canceled and will not be collected.

Error

The tasking request cannot be submitted due to a scheduling error or problems during new acquisition feasibility processing.

Retrying

The tasking request is being reattempted following an error. This status applies only to repeat tasks.

Anomaly

An anomaly occurred during collect that prevents full completion of the tasking request.

Collect statuses

Collect Status

Description

Predicted

A collection opportunity has been predicted by the constellation tasking system.

Tasked

Acquisition of the SAR images has been incorporated into a schedule and uplinked to spacecraft.

Collected

The SAR image has been collected by the Capella SAR system on the spacecraft.

Processing

Data has been downlinked and is being processed to generate the SAR imagery products.

QA

SAR imagery products are being reviewed by an automated quality assurance system.

Delivered

SAR imagery products are ready and available for user to download from either the Capella Console web application or Capella API.

Anomaly

An anomaly has occurred which prohibits acquisition or delivery of the collect. If an imaging collect anomaly occurs the constellation tasking system will automatically attempt to reschedule the collect for a future time within the user's specified acquisition window duration.
