Every year tens of thousands of people gather in the Nevada, U.S. desert for the "Burning Man" festival. There they explore the festival's "C" shaped grounds and large pentagon shaped outer regions. The end of the festival is marked by the symbolic burning of a multi-story wooden sculpture of a man in the center of the pentagon. This Change Detection sample and the corresponding imagery illustrates this final night--where attendees gather in the center to watch the spectacle--in phenomenal detail.
Capella captured a pair of Spot images taken at the beginning (8/31/2022) and the end of the festival (9/3/2022 at 10:40 PM local time--well past sundown). The red ("red fled") portions of the Change Map reveal attendees along with their bikes, cars, and other accouterment flocking from the "C" shaped camping and living areas. The blue ("blue new") portions of the Change Map reveal the large gathering in the center of the festival grounds. The image below shows the image pair and Change Map that are available to view and download free of charge for users with Capella Console accounts to evaluate the Change Detection product.
