When creating a repeat task you must specify a Tasking Tier, which sets the tasking tier for all single tasks in a series. Repeat tasks have two tier options: Routine and Background.
Routine
The Routine Tasking Tier is the default for new repeat tasks. Single tasks within the series are treated with a higher priority in our scheduler in order to have a higher chance of acceptance on a normal cadence. Once accepted, these tasking requests will be collected and imagery delivered to customers once the data is downlinked and processed. A Routine repeat task honors Capella's standard No Bumping policy.
Routine repeat tasks are best used by customers looking to have reliable collection volume and consistent imaging cycles.
Background
The Background Tasking Tier can be thought of as an opportunistic tasking request. Single tasks in the series will only be collected when there is capacity available. The Background Tasking Tier is the only type of tasking request that can be bumped from the schedule. It is possible that a Background repeat task will get added to the schedule and more frequently shuffled, or fully removed, if a higher priority tasking request (Routine, 1-Day, 3-Day, 7-Day) needs the imaging slot.
Background tasking requests will remain in the Active status all the way up until the last valid scheduler run prior to collection. This allows for a Background tasking request to pick up any collection opportunities that open up due to higher priority tasking requests being canceled or moved.
Background repeat requests are best used by customers looking to build up image stacks in areas where data doesn't currently exist and who are less dependent on consistent imaging cycles or prefer to pay a lower price.
